Adobe launches Premiere video editor on iPhone

Adobe’s widely used video editing software Premiere is now available on the iPhone, giving mobile creators access to professional-grade editing tools on the go. The launch follows Adobe’s earlier announcement this month, with an Android version currently in development.
Mobile Editing, Professional Features
The Premiere mobile app is free to use and designed to bring core editing functions to a smaller screen. Key features include:
- Multi-track timeline for videos, sounds, music, and text
- Support for 4K HDR editing
- Auto-generated captions
- Adjustable frame controls for color, shadows, and other details
For mobile users recording clips in noisy environments, Premiere offers a simple slider to reduce background noise and enhance dialogue clarity.
AI-Powered Creativity
Adobe has built several AI features into Premiere, powered by its Firefly models:
- Generate background sounds from text prompts, or even from humming or singing
- Create images, stickers, and transitions for videos
- Convert still images into video clips for smooth transitions
While the app itself is free, many of these AI capabilities will require purchasing credits.
In addition, users can access Adobe’s stock library of photos, clips, and sounds at no extra cost.
Cloud Sync for Cross-Platform Editing
Premiere mobile supports Adobe Cloud syncing, allowing creators to start projects on iPhone and continue editing on desktop. However, projects can’t yet be sent from desktop back to mobile.
Mike Folgner, product director at Adobe, emphasized the company’s mobile-first strategy:
“We know that the next generation of creators prefers to edit on mobile. This new app is a critical way that we meet them where they’re at.”
Competing in the Mobile Editing Market
With Premiere’s arrival on iPhone, Adobe is taking aim at CapCut (ByteDance), Meta’s Edits, Captions (backed by a16z), and India-based InVideo, all of which are competing for the fast-growing mobile video editing market.
Premiere joins Adobe’s growing mobile lineup, including Photoshop and Firefly, underscoring the company’s push to become the go-to creative toolkit across devices.
