Apple Maps adds reviews from Michelin and The Infatuation

Apple is rolling out a significant update to its Maps app, introducing curated recommendations and expert insights from renowned sources such as Michelin, The Infatuation, and Golf Digest. This move marks a step toward making Apple Maps not just a navigation tool, but a destination discovery platform with premium content baked in.
According to Apple’s press release, Michelin recommendations are already live, offering users access to the brand’s signature distinctions, descriptions, and images directly within Maps. When searching for hotels, for instance, users may now see Michelin Key ratings — a hotel-focused counterpart to Michelin’s famous restaurant stars. One such example is The Hoxton in Portland, which now appears with a Michelin Key and a brief review excerpted from the Michelin Guide.
Content from The Infatuation (known for restaurant reviews) and Golf Digest (focused on golf courses) will follow shortly, with Apple promising “more expert sources to follow” in future updates.
In addition to expert content integration, Apple Maps now allows hotel bookings directly within the app, with restaurant reservations via Michelin and tee times through Supreme Golf expected soon. This aligns with Apple’s broader effort to turn Maps into a richer, more interactive service for travel and lifestyle planning.
Apple has also partnered with Formula 1 to enhance Maps coverage in Monaco, just ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix and the upcoming release of Apple’s F1-themed movie. These updates include detailed views of the race circuit and points of interest around the principality.
The enhancements are part of Apple’s ongoing strategy to differentiate Maps from competitors by emphasizing trusted, high-quality content and seamless integration of travel-related services — potentially making it a go-to app not just for directions, but for trip inspiration and planning.
