Google announced Friday that its financial information and news platform, Google Finance, is receiving a significant AI-powered overhaul. The update introduces the ability to research complex financial questions using artificial intelligence, along with enhanced charting capabilities, real-time market data, and a live news feed.

With the new AI features, users can now ask detailed finance-related questions and receive comprehensive, conversational responses that include links to relevant resources. Rather than searching for individual stock data or market indicators one by one, people can make broad or intricate queries and get synthesized, contextual answers in a single step.

Google is also rolling out advanced charting tools aimed at giving investors and analysts deeper insights. The platform now supports technical indicators such as moving average envelopes and offers customizable chart formats like candlestick views, helping users better visualize trends beyond simple asset performance.

In addition, Google Finance is expanding its coverage to include more market data on commodities and a wider range of cryptocurrencies. A real-time news feed will display up-to-the-minute headlines, enabling users to track breaking developments without leaving the platform.

The update appears to position Google Finance as a stronger competitor to established services like Yahoo Finance and Seeking Alpha, while also offering AI-driven answers that might otherwise send users to third-party chatbots such as ChatGPT.

Google says the revamped Google Finance will roll out to U.S. users in the coming weeks. During the transition, users will be able to switch between the new and classic versions of the service.
