Google has announced the launch of Doppl, an experimental app designed to let users visualize how different outfits would look on their own bodies using artificial intelligence. Now available on iOS and Android devices in the U.S., Doppl brings a new, personalized layer to the concept of virtual try-ons.

At its core, Doppl allows users to create a digital version of themselves by uploading a full-body photo. Once set up, users can upload images of clothing—from a friend's outfit, a thrift store find, or even a screenshot from social media—and see how they would look wearing it. The app uses AI to render the clothing on a virtual version of the user, making it easier to experiment with styles without ever stepping into a fitting room.

Going a step further, Doppl doesn't just produce static images. The app can generate short AI-powered videos that simulate how the clothing would move and look in real life, giving users a more dynamic and realistic sense of fit and appearance.

Users can save favorite looks, browse previous try-ons, and share their outfits with friends, making the app part style tool, part social experience. Google positions Doppl as a fun and interactive way to explore fashion, but also acknowledges its limitations: the technology is still in early development, and results may not always perfectly reflect real-world fit or detail.

Doppl builds on Google's previous ventures in virtual fashion, such as the AI-powered try-on features already integrated into Google Shopping. Unlike those features—which show clothes on a range of model bodies—Doppl brings the experience to a personal level, using your own image to create customized previews.

“We hope Doppl helps you explore your style in new and exciting ways,” Google shared in its announcement. As part of Google Labs, Doppl is being framed as an experiment, meaning there’s no confirmed timeline for expansion to other regions or for broader rollout.

For now, U.S.-based users can try Doppl as a playful, AI-driven way to reimagine their wardrobe and engage with fashion in a more personalized and visual format.
